Artist-in-Residence Program
Located in the German Village Historic Neighborhood of Downtown Hamilton, the Artist-in Residence Program in housed in
space donated by Neil Cohen of Hamilton Scrap Processors. Mr. Cohen’s love of art and sculpture, and his commitment to the
City of Sculpture have led to this successful collaboration with local artists.
Bekka Sage, Hamilton, Ohio City of Sculpture’s current Artist-in-Residence, is a magna cum laude graduate in sculpture
of the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design Art, Architecture, and Planning. Bekka describes the unique opportunity
the Artist-in-Residence Program provides:
“The studio at Hamilton Scrap Processors is a roughly 60 foot by 60 foot sculptural playground. The ample space and industrial
setting gives an artist in resident plenty to be inspired by. From a large metal stair jig to a working hoist system, one can
recreate the space to suit whatever artistic pursuit they so choose to dabble in. I have adapted the space to be beneficial
for woodworking and large- scale paintings on alternative surfaces, but may change more things as I go. The space and materials
from Hamilton Scrap Processors has given a place to further my education and experiment with large-scale sculpture that I was
not able to do before. In short, the studio has been a godsend to me.”
