Can you picture “Clifford the Big Red Dog” – in ice? How about Cinderella’s glass slipper? All these ideas and more are available to individuals and businesses who are interested in sponsoring an ice sculpture for this year’s IceFest. Brady Lantz and Micah Sensenig, of Artic Diamond Ice, are busy coming up with great ideas for sculptures representing each of the books on our Great Book list. Letters are going out soon to potential ice sculpture sponsors.

Also, a Great Wall of Ice will grace the High Street entrance to the Courthouse. Individuals can purchase a block on that wall and choose to have a name written on the ice (grandchild, family, etc.) to honor or remember someone special. Letters will be going out very soon with order information.

On the weekend of January 21 and 22, ice sculptures will frame the historic Butler County Courthouse and stretch along High Street all the way to the Government Services Center. All sculptures will be lighted for the Technicolor Ice Walk on Friday evening. Speed carving demonstrations will take place on Saturday, on Second Street. A BookFest at IceFest will also take place Saturday, at Ryan’s Tavern, featuring local authors and book signings. ArtFest at IceFest is back and will again be on the main floor at the Government Service Center and Saturday. The Fire and Ice Event will be Friday night at the Courtyard be Marriott. The Children’s Area with putt-putt ice golf, “Dog” Sled races, food and music will round out the weekend’s fun.
