Ohio, City of Sculpture - SITE SPECIFIC COMPETITION – Dedication to be held June, 2009
The Hamilton, Ohio City of Sculpture
seeks an artist/artist team to design and create a site specific
sculpture for a prominent location in the City of Hamilton, Ohio.
This sculpture can be static or kinetic and can include water and
light features. The site is Journal Square, a central gathering spot
in downtown Hamilton.
The project must be a significant visual
landmark, welcoming people to Journal Square and be a centerpiece of
downtown .This project is open to all sculptors/sculpture teams with
no geographical restrictions. Four finalists will receive a $500
design fee to create detailed models or graphical representations of
their proposals and a budgetary outline of the sculpture. The final
art budget will not exceed $50,000. Work must be low maintenance,
relate to the area, be within the budget, and must be professional
quality, public sculpture suitable for a Midwestern climate.
Proposals must include a letter of interest, résumé, initial concept
drawings or description, 10 images in digital jpeg on CD, no more
than 1MB each per image of recent work, a list of 3 references with
current contact information, and a SASE for the return of
application materials, if desired .
