SCHEDULE

The Miami University Hamilton IceFest Media Event took place January 22 at 10:00 a.m. in the new Miami University Downtown Hamilton location at 221 High Street. Topics on the agenda includes IceFest activities, City of Sculpture mission and more. For photos, click here.

Friday, February 1, 2008

  • All Day: Placement and setup of the static ice displays begins at 8:00 a.m. “A 2-forklift wheeler-dealer day where we work till all sculptures can be seen by the public”, states IceFest chair Debbie Cisle

  • All Day: Chaco Credit Union, Inc. Amateur Photo Contest

  • 10:00 a.m.: Downtown Area Restaurants Open: Cappuccino Depot; Easy's; Kostas; McDonald's; Ohio Lunch; Richard's Pizza; Riverbank Cafe, Thyme Savor and Third Street Tap & Grill (earlier openings may occur)

  • 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.: Hamilton Welcome Center is open.

  • Afternoon: Ice Sculptures on High Street from the Government Services Center across the High- Main Bridge

  • 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.: Downtown Hamilton SID Information Hut

  • 3:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.: Art on Symmes Artist Exposition

  • 3-8 p.m.: Vote for your favorite ice sculpture in the Bridgewater Falls People's Choice Award!

  • 5:00 p.m.: Watering Trough Food and Warming Tent

  • 6:00 p.m. Ohio Casualty / Wilks Insurance Agency Speed Carving Competition

  • 6:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.: First Financial Bank Fire and Ice Kickoff Event, which is located at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts

  • 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.: Butler County Historical Society Downtown Shuttle from the GSC

  • 8:00 p.m.: City of Hamilton Live Fire & Ice Demonstration on the Great Miami Riverbank!

  • DUSK: Technicolor Ice Walk with over 100 ice sculptures illuminated with all evening colored lights featuring "Animal Kingdom". Lights remain lit all evening and then weather permitting (cold) will light up the sculptures again on Saturday and Sunday evenings.  Free and Open to the Public.

  • Stay Overnight at the Cincinnati Marriott North

Purchase Elder Beerman Cash Raffle Tickets at the Downtown SID Information Hut.  Enter for a drawing for $1000 - $500 - $250! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Drawing is on Saturday at 4PM. Winner need not be present.

  • 7:00-8:00 a.m.: Registration of carvers

  • 8:00-10:00 a.m.: Carvers set up carving stations at Courthouse Square and Second Street

  • All Day: Over 100 Ice Sculptures sponsored by area businesses, organizations and individuals featuring "Animal Kingdom in Ice".  Free and Open to the Public

  • All Day: Chaco Credit Union, Inc. Amateur Photo Contest

  • All Day: Soap Sculpture Contest winners on display.

  • 9:00 a.m.-Noon: Miami Indian Trekkers Volksmarch 5K/10K from YMCA

  • 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Ice Carving Competition Alley featuring over a dozen professional ice sculptors from the nation competing for prize money

  • 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.: Hamilton Welcome Center is open.

  • 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Art on Symmes Artist Exposition

  • 10:00 a.m.: Journal News / The Lane Libraries "Talk to the Animals" Children's Area opens.

  • 10:00 a.m.: Take a photo while sitting on the Rose Chevrolet Royal Ice Throne!

  • 10:00 a.m.: Soap Sculpture Award Ceremony at the Butler County Courthouse Gazebo

  • 10:00 a.m.: Watering Trough Food and Warming Tent opens

  • 10:00 a.m.: Downtown Hamilton SID Information Hut Opens, Court Street

  • 10:00 a.m.: Downtown Area Restaurants Open: Cappuccino Depot; Easy's; Kostas; McDonald's; Ohio Lunch; Richard's Pizza; Riverbank Cafe, Thyme Savor and Third Street Tap & Grill (earlier openings may occur)

  • 11:00 a.m.:  Miami University Hamilton downtown Hamilton location grand opening takes place at 221 High Street

  • Noon: City of Sculpture Riverside Mallards Unveiling at the NW corner of the High-Main Bridge.

  • 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.:  Lane Libraries Puppet Shows in the Children's Area

  • 1:00 p.m.: First Financial Bank "Polar Bear Express" Sled Race

  • 2:00 p.m.: Competition Carving concludes

  • 4:00 p.m.: Elder Beerman Cash Raffle Drawing

  • 4:00 p.m.: The Ice Sculpture Competition Awards Ceremony at Heritage Hall. Be there for the popular Bridgewater Falls People's Choice Award!

  • 5:00  - 7:30 p.m. Fitton After IceFest at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts

  • Dusk: Technicolor Ice Walk with over 100 ice sculptures illuminated with all evening colored lights featuring "Animal Kingdom". Lights remain lit all evening and then weather permitting (cold) will light up the sculptures again on Saturday and Sunday evenings.  Free and Open to the Public.
